Do I need SMTP to use Cal.com?

SMTP is required to send booking confirmation emails and calendar invites to your clients. Without it Cal.com still works for booking, but attendees receive no confirmation. Configure your SMTP provider (Gmail app password, Mailgun, Brevo) in Settings → Email. A transactional email provider with 100–300 sends/day is sufficient for most use cases.

What is the difference between Cal.com and Chatwoot or Mattermost already in the catalogue?

Chatwoot handles real-time customer support conversations (live chat, email, WhatsApp, Telegram). Mattermost is a team messaging platform. Cal.com is for scheduling — it creates a booking page that lets contacts choose a time slot in your calendar. They solve different problems and work well together: Chatwoot handles the support conversation, Cal.com handles the follow-up appointment.

Can Cal.com replace my Calendly Teams plan?

Frequently asked questions

Not without a full reset. NEXT_PUBLIC_WEBAPP_URL is written into every booking link, OAuth callback and NextAuth cookie at first start. Changing the domain breaks authentication for all existing users. Choose your final domain before deploying. If you need to change it, delete the calcom_db volume, redeploy with the new domain and reconfigure calendar integrations.
