Wiki.js is a modern, powerful open-source documentation platform for building your team's knowledge base. Markdown and visual editors, a page tree, full-text search, version history and fine-grained permissions: everything you need for living documentation, without depending on a proprietary service.

Deployed on your own VPS, Wiki.js keeps all of your documentation on your infrastructure. The server (Node.js) and PostgreSQL run in Docker containers and install in a single step. Multiple authentication methods (local, LDAP, OAuth), optional Git storage and a customisable theme make it a complete, elegant documentation foundation.

Key features

Multiple editors: Markdown, visual (WYSIWYG) and HTML
Page tree with built-in full-text search
Fine-grained access control by group and by page path
Version history and change comparison
Local, LDAP, SAML and OAuth authentication (Google, GitHub…)
Optional Git storage to version your documentation

Installation wizard

Open http://votre-ip:3000: the web wizard creates the administrator account and finalises the initial configuration.

03

Structure your documentation

Create your page tree, choose the editor (Markdown or visual) and organise your categories.

04

Configure access

Define groups, per-path permission rules and authentication (local, OAuth, LDAP).

05

Go live

Attach your domain and enable HTTPS with a TLS certificate before opening access.
