The ANRT's role in .ma
The ANRT is Morocco's telecommunications regulator. For .ma, it holds the national registry: it sets the naming charter (syntax, reserved terms), handles disputes and accredits the providers authorized to register domains on behalf of third parties. A non-accredited actor cannot operate directly on the registry — it necessarily goes through an intermediary.
What accreditation guarantees
Accreditation is not a formality: it binds the provider to technical and contractual obligations toward the regulator.
For the holder of a .ma domain
- Your registrations are made directly on the national registry, without an opaque chain of intermediaries.
- You are indeed the declared holder of the domain — not the provider — which secures ownership and transfers.
- Sensitive operations (transfer, change of holder, renewal) follow the ANRT's official procedures.
- In the event of a dispute over a name, the resolution mechanisms provided by the regulator are available to you.
The .ma-specific rules to know
The .ma has its particularities: certain terms are reserved or forbidden by the naming charter, third-level domains (co.ma, net.ma, org.ma…) are subject to specific conditions, and the registration period is counted in whole years. An accredited provider applies these rules from the moment of ordering — your request is not rejected after the fact for an overlooked criterion.
