ToolJet (AGPL-3.0, 38 000+ stars, v3.20) is an open-source low-code platform for building internal tools, admin panels, dashboards and business applications. Your engineering team connects to any data source — PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis, REST APIs, Google Sheets, Stripe — and drags and drops tables, charts, forms and buttons onto a canvas. The result is a production-grade internal app deployed in hours, not weeks.
ToolJet 3.0 (2026) shipped AI-native app prototyping: describe the tool you want in natural language and ToolJet generates the component tree, connects the data source and wires the actions. A 20-person team replaces $2 400/year in Retool seats with a single ServOrbit VPS.
Self-hosted on your VPS, ToolJet runs on PostgreSQL with a single application container. All your business data — customer records, order history, support tickets — stays inside your infrastructure. No telemetry, no seat limits, no vendor lock-in.
Replace your support team's patchwork of SQL queries and spreadsheets with a purpose-built admin panel. Connect ToolJet to your PostgreSQL or MySQL database, drag in a table component, add search and filter fields, wire action buttons to update ticket status or refund orders — and deploy the app in an afternoon. No frontend developer required.
Pull live data from your database, your REST API and a Google Sheet into a single ToolJet dashboard. Add bar charts for monthly revenue, a data grid for pending orders and a KPI card for active subscriptions. Set up auto-refresh every 60 seconds. Share the URL with the ops team.
Build a multi-step approval workflow in ToolJet: a table listing pending orders with filter and sort, a detail panel that opens on row click, and Approve / Reject buttons that fire a REST API call and update a status field. Add a second page restricted to managers with aggregate views and CSV export.
Guide optimized for ServOrbit Cloud VPS.
A 2 vCPU / 2 GB RAM plan on Ubuntu 24.04 is recommended. ToolJet with PostgreSQL starts comfortably under 1.5 GB RAM at idle; 2 GB gives headroom for concurrent users and heavy query loads.
Open your ServOrbit control panel, go to Marketplace → Development → ToolJet, and click Deploy. AWX provisions Docker, generates secrets, writes the environment file and starts the containers. The app is ready in about 60 seconds.
Open ToolJet in your browser. If you attached a domain, the address is https://your-domain.com — nginx terminates TLS and proxies to the container. Without a domain there is no public access: open an SSH tunnel with ssh -L 8096:127.0.0.1:8096 root@your-vps-ip then visit http://localhost:8096. The first-run wizard asks for your name, email and password; the first account created becomes the super-admin.
In the ToolJet editor, click Data Sources → + New data source. Choose PostgreSQL, MySQL, REST API, Google Sheets or any of the 50+ connectors. Enter connection credentials — they are stored encrypted in your ToolJet database. Test the connection, save and start writing queries in the Query Editor.
Click Apps → Create new app. The canvas appears with a component panel on the left. Drag a Table component onto the canvas, bind it to a database query, add a search input and filter. Click Preview, then Release to publish. Share the URL with your team.
