OpenVPN Server turns your VPS into a private VPN server — no subscription, no logs on third-party servers, no bandwidth restrictions. All your team's remote access flows through your own infrastructure: you control who connects, when and to what.

It's the ideal solution for companies that want to secure access to their internal resources (servers, databases, administration applications) from public networks. The template configures OpenVPN with a full PKI (public key infrastructure) to manage client certificates.

Key features

Full public key infrastructure (PKI) with Easy-RSA
AES-256 encryption with TLS authentication
Clients available on Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android
User management via revocable certificates
Selective or full traffic routing (split tunneling)
Centralized access logs on your VPS

When to use this solution?

1

Access to internal servers

Let your team access databases and administration services from anywhere, without exposing them on the internet.

2

Secure remote work

Protect your remote employees' connections on public networks (hotels, cafés, airports).

3

Regulatory compliance

Centralize and control network access to meet security and audit requirements.

Deploy OpenVPN Server on your VPS

Guide optimized for ServOrbit Cloud VPS.

01

Create the VPS

VPS with at least 1 GB RAM, Ubuntu 22.04. A dedicated IPv4 is included — it's the address of your VPN server.

02

Install OpenVPN

Use OpenVPN's road warrior script: curl -O https://raw.githubusercontent.com/angristan/openvpn-install/master/openvpn-install.sh && bash openvpn-install.sh. It configures everything automatically.

03

Generate client profiles

Run the script again to create one .ovpn profile per user. Distribute these files securely.

04

Install the client

Your users import the .ovpn file into their OpenVPN client (the official app is available on all platforms).
