GlitchTip is an open-source error tracking platform built for teams who want the reliability of Sentry without the cloud bill or data residency constraints.

It is fully compatible with every official Sentry SDK — Python, JavaScript, Ruby, PHP, Go, Java, .NET, iOS, Android and more. Migrating means pointing your existing DSN at the new host; your instrumentation, alert rules and integrations carry over.

Beyond error tracking, GlitchTip ships performance monitoring (transaction traces, latency distributions) and uptime monitoring (HTTP probes with webhook or email alerts) in a single Docker image. The `GLITCHTIP_EMBED_WORKER=true` flag folds the Celery background worker into the web container, so a standard three-container compose (web, Postgres, Redis) is all you need on a ServOrbit VPS.

Key features

Sentry SDK compatibility — plug in your existing Sentry DSN and migrate any Python, JS, Ruby, PHP or Go app without a code change.
Error grouping and deduplication — GlitchTip clusters similar exceptions automatically and assigns a unique fingerprint to each issue.
Performance monitoring — track transactions, latency percentiles (p50/p95) and slow database queries across your services.
Uptime monitoring — built-in HTTP checks alert you when a service goes down, with notifications for email, webhooks and Telegram.
Single-container mode — GLITCHTIP_EMBED_WORKER=true folds the Celery worker into the web container, so one docker compose up is all you need.
Multi-project and team support — create unlimited projects, invite teammates with role-based access and namespace DSNs per environment.

When to use this solution?

1

SaaS error tracking

Collect, group and prioritize exceptions from your web or mobile app. Assign issues to teammates, link to commits and track resolution rate over time.

2

Sentry Cloud migration

Keep your existing SDKs and alert rules — swap only the DSN endpoint. All events land in your self-hosted instance; no vendor lock-in, no per-event pricing.

3

Multi-service DevOps

One GlitchTip instance handles all your microservices. Create a project per service, issue per-environment DSNs and control team access with role-based permissions.

Deploy GlitchTip on your VPS

Guide optimized for ServOrbit Cloud VPS.

01

Create your first account

Navigate to https://<domain>/register and create the first administrator account. This becomes the organization owner — no additional setup required.

02

Create an organization and project

After signing in, create an organization then add a project. Choose the matching Sentry-compatible SDK (Python, JavaScript, PHP, Go, Ruby…). GlitchTip displays the DSN for that project.

03

Point your app at GlitchTip

Copy the DSN and replace the Sentry DSN in your application configuration. No code changes are needed — all existing SDK calls route to your self-hosted instance.

04

Set up uptime monitors (optional)

Go to Monitor → Create Monitor, enter the URL to probe and choose an interval. Alerts fire via email or webhook when the endpoint goes down.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. GlitchTip implements the Sentry event ingestion API and supports every official SDK — Python, JavaScript, Ruby, PHP, Go, Java, .NET, iOS and Android. You only need to change the DSN in your configuration; no SDK code needs to be modified.
