Netdata is the easiest open-source monitoring tool to deploy: a single command and you immediately get hundreds of metrics per second (CPU, RAM, disk, network, processes, Docker containers, databases…), with no configuration at all.

Install Netdata

A single command: wget -O /tmp/netdata-kickstart.sh https://get.netdata.cloud/kickstart.sh && sh /tmp/netdata-kickstart.sh. The dashboard is available on port 19999.

Secure access

Port 19999 is never published on the internet: it stays bound to the loopback interface. With no domain attached, reach the dashboard through an SSH tunnel — ssh -L 19999:127.0.0.1:19999 root@<your-vps-ip> — then browse to http://localhost:19999. If you attach a domain from your client area, ServOrbit installs the nginx vhost and the TLS certificate, but the dashboard then opens to anyone who knows the address: Netdata has no login screen at all.

Configure alerts

Edit /etc/netdata/health_alarm_notify.conf to enable email, Slack or Telegram notifications.
