Log in to your VPS over SSH for the first time

Guides2 min read4 steps

Where: your server's delivery email, then Client area › My services › Linux VPS › server page, “SSH access” block.

When a VPS ordered without an SSH key is delivered, you receive a secure one-time link that displays its password only once. Follow these steps as soon as you receive the email.

First login

  1. Open the link received by email

Click the button in the delivery email and sign in to your client area if needed: the “Access to your server” page appears, with the “Hostname”, the “IP address” and the “SSH user”.

  2. Show the password

Have your password manager ready, then click “Show the password” and copy it.

  3. Log in

Copy the “Login command” and paste it into your terminal, then enter the password.

  4. Replace the password

On first login, the system asks you to choose a new one. Then click “I have saved the password — go to my server”.

The common pitfall

The link is only valid for 24 hours and works only once: the password is erased from our servers as soon as it is displayed. If it has expired or was already used, click “Generate a new access” on the same page — the server restarts and a new link is sent to you.

If it doesn't work

  • The link cannot be found: check that you are signed in to the account that ordered the server.
  • You will then find the SSH command in the “SSH access” block of the server page.
  • Password lost later on: use the “Password” tile on the server page.

Manage your servers

Find each server's address and SSH command on its page.
