A DNS record tells where to send a name's traffic: a website (A, AAAA, CNAME), email (MX), or a verification and email signature (TXT, including SPF and DKIM). Managed DNS must be activated on the domain.
Create a record
Open the zone
On the domain page, in the “Managed DNS zone” block, click “Add a record”.
Choose the type
Select the “Type” (A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT or NS) and the time to live (TTL); “Automatic” is fine in most cases.
Enter the name
In “Name”, enter
@for the domain itself, or a subdomain such aswww.Enter the value
Enter the “Value”: an IP address for an A record, a hostname for a CNAME, the full text for a TXT. For an MX, fill in “Mail server” and “Priority”: the lower the value, the higher the server's priority.
Confirm
Click “Add”. The record appears in the table. To change or remove it, use “Edit” or “Delete” on its row.
The common pitfall
No confirmation message is shown: the row appearing in the table is what confirms the record. And deletion is immediate — double-check the name before confirming, especially on an MX or an email TXT record.
If it doesn't work
- The button does not appear: activate managed DNS on this domain first.
- The form rejects the value: an A record expects an IPv4 address, an AAAA record an IPv6 address.
- The change is not visible yet: wait for the chosen TTL to elapse, then try again.
