They all run on Linux and Windows Server. They differ in the number of domains managed.
Plesk stands out above all on Windows and with its unified interface. Here's how to tell them apart.
| Criterion | Plesk | cPanel / WHM |
|---|---|---|
| System | Linux AND Windows Server | Linux only |
| Interface | A single unified interface | WHM (admin) + cPanel (user) |
| Pricing | By edition (number of domains) | By number of accounts |
| Target audience | Developers, agencies, Windows sites | Hosts, Linux resellers |
| Extensions | Rich ecosystem (WordPress Toolkit, etc.) | The de facto hosting standard |
| Security | Integrable extensions (including Imunify) | CloudLinux / Imunify360 recommended |
Plesk is a hosting control panel: from a single web interface, you manage your sites, domains, mailboxes, databases and SSL certificates, without a command line. The license is tied to your server's IP address and billed by edition according to the number of domains managed.
Yes. Plesk runs on Linux (Ubuntu, Debian, AlmaLinux, Rocky…) as well as on Windows Server. It's the only major panel to cover Windows: it's the right choice if you host .NET applications or sites that require a Windows environment.
Web Admin manages up to 10 domains (a single-site server or a few sites). Web Pro goes up to 30 domains and adds tools for developers and agencies. Web Host lifts the limit (unlimited domains) and targets hosts and resellers. Web Pro and Web Host can include CloudLinux to isolate accounts.
The Plesk key is attached to the public IP address of the server on which you install it. You choose your edition, provide that IP at checkout, and your activation code is sent to you by email. If your server's IP changes, contact support to re-link the license.
Yes. If you order a VPS Cloud from us, Plesk can be installed automatically — you don't have to enter the IP address manually or install the key. On a server you already own, you provide its IP and install the supplied key in Plesk.
Choose Plesk for Windows, a unified developer-oriented interface, or per-edition pricing (by domains). Choose cPanel/WHM for large-scale Linux shared hosting billed by accounts. Both are available here, tied to your server's IP.
