WireGuard is the modern VPN protocol that is gradually replacing OpenVPN thanks to its simplicity, performance and minimal codebase (4,000 lines vs 400,000 for OpenVPN). Deployed on your ServOrbit VPS, WireGuard Server creates a secure private network for your team, without going through a third-party relay.

The template configures WireGuard with WireGuard Easy (wg-easy) — a web interface that greatly simplifies peer management (adding, removing, QR codes for mobile). Your team members connect via the official WireGuard app available on all platforms.

Key features

WireGuard protocol (ChaCha20 encryption, Poly1305 authentication)
wg-easy web interface to manage peers
QR codes for instant mobile configuration
Packet handling in the kernel, without a round trip through user space
Minimal, audited source code — reduced attack surface
Automatic reconnection when the network changes

Deploy WireGuard Server on your VPS

Guide optimized for ServOrbit Cloud VPS.

01

Create the VPS

VPS with 1 GB RAM, Ubuntu 22.04. The dedicated ServOrbit IPv4 is the address of your WireGuard server.

02

Deploy wg-easy

Create a docker-compose.yml with the ghcr.io/wg-easy/wg-easy image. Set WG_HOST to your IPv4 and PASSWORD for the web interface.

03

Start and connect

Launch with docker compose up -d. The web interface is accessible on port 51821.

04

Add clients

In the interface, create one peer per user. Each user scans the QR code with the WireGuard app on their phone or imports the .conf file on desktop.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. WireGuard runs in the Linux kernel, which gives it superior performance (3–4x faster in some benchmarks) and lower latency.
