OneDev is a self-hosted DevOps platform that combines a Git forge, a CI/CD engine, an issue tracker, Kanban boards and a package registry in one Java application — one Docker container, one URL, one backup. Unlike Gitea, it bundles its own build agent, so your first pipeline runs without installing a separate runner or signing up for an external service.

On a ServOrbit VPS, OneDev runs as two containers: the `1dev/server` image backed by PostgreSQL 14. The web UI is served on port 6610 behind the nginx vhost with HTTPS. Git over HTTPS works through the same domain, so `git clone`, `git push` and CI webhooks all share one URL.

The CI/CD engine reads YAML pipeline files from the repository, and a visual designer lets you edit them without writing YAML by hand. Pipelines run inside Docker containers for clean, reproducible builds. Issues and Kanban boards live alongside the code — no separate project management tool.

Key features

Integrated CI/CD: pipelines defined in YAML, with a visual designer — no runner to install separately, no external service.
Full Git forge: repositories, branches, tags, pull requests with review, wikis and releases.
Built-in Kanban boards with automated transitions driven by code events.
Package registry speaking Docker/OCI, npm, Maven, NuGet and Helm — same host, same credentials.
AI-powered code analysis, symbol search and navigation built into the diff view.
Fine-grained permissions: organisations, teams, protected branches, required reviewers.
Authentication via LDAP, OAuth2 (GitHub, GitLab, Google) or local accounts.
Single-container deploy: PostgreSQL 14 as sidecar, everything else in 1dev/server.

When to use this solution?

1

All-in-one DevOps without a SaaS bill

OneDev gives you the whole GitHub + GitHub Actions stack on a VPS you own. One tool for code, pipelines and issues — no per-seat billing, no build-minute quota, no data leaving your infrastructure.

2

Private package registry for internal libraries

Publish npm packages, Docker images, Maven artifacts or Helm charts straight to the instance that already hosts your code. One URL, one set of credentials — instead of a separate registry per ecosystem.

3

CI/CD for teams new to automation

The visual pipeline designer lets developers define stages, steps and conditions without writing YAML from scratch. Pipelines run inside Docker containers for reproducibility.

Deploy OneDev on your VPS

Guide optimized for ServOrbit Cloud VPS.

01

Order a ServOrbit VPS

OneDev with PostgreSQL runs comfortably on 2 GB of RAM for a small team. Plan 4 GB if you intend to run multiple concurrent CI jobs on the same machine, since each Docker-based build step uses its own container.

02

Attach a domain

OneDev embeds the server URL in clone links, CI webhook callbacks and OAuth redirect URIs. Point a subdomain such as git.example.com at your VPS — you can also use the free ServOrbit subdomain {app}.{dns_slug}.servorbit-dns.com, which comes with HTTPS automatically.

03

One-click deploy from the marketplace

Open your ServOrbit dashboard → Marketplace → Development → OneDev → Deploy. Docker pulls 1dev/server and postgres:14, generates database credentials and starts the stack. The web UI answers within two minutes.

04

Run the setup wizard and set the server URL

Open your domain in a browser. The setup wizard asks for the administrator account and the Server URL — enter your full HTTPS domain. OneDev embeds this URL in clone links, email notifications and CI badges from the first push.

05

Create a repository and trigger your first pipeline

Create a repository, add a .onedev-buildspec.yml in the root, and push. OneDev detects the build specification and queues a pipeline run using the built-in agent — no external runner to register.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. OneDev embeds the server URL in clone links, CI webhook callbacks and OAuth redirect URIs. Configure it during the setup wizard. You can use a subdomain of your own domain or the free ServOrbit subdomain ({app}.{dns_slug}.servorbit-dns.com), which includes HTTPS automatically.
