Teable is an open-source, self-hosted spreadsheet-database hybrid (AGPL-3.0, 21k+ GitHub stars) that brings the Airtable experience to your own VPS. Unlike spreadsheet tools that hide your data in proprietary formats, Teable stores every table directly in PostgreSQL — giving you full SQL access, native tooling and zero vendor lock-in.
Deployed on a ServOrbit VPS, Teable runs as three containers: PostgreSQL 15 for storage, Redis for caching and the Teable application server. The web interface delivers real-time collaboration: multiple users can edit the same table simultaneously, with changes appearing instantly for everyone — no manual refresh required.
Each dataset supports multiple views on the same data: Grid (spreadsheet-style), Kanban (status-based cards) and Gallery (image-first layout), plus a Form view for collecting public responses. Every table exposes a REST API automatically, making it easy to connect Teable to your apps, webhooks and automation workflows without writing backend code.
A JavaScript-like formula engine covers 100+ functions (SUM, IF, LOOKUP, CONCATENATE…) for computed fields, roll-ups and cross-table references. From your ServOrbit client area, open Marketplace → Databases → Teable and confirm the order. ServOrbit provisions a fresh VPS, installs Docker and starts the three containers (PostgreSQL, Redis, Teable). You will receive a notification when the instance is ready.
Navigate to the URL shown in your client area (either your custom domain or the auto-assigned VPS subdomain). Teable shows its registration page — the first account you create becomes the workspace owner. No preset admin account exists; you define your own credentials.
After sign-in, click New Base. Teable creates a PostgreSQL schema for your base and opens it in Grid view. Add tables, define field types (Text, Number, Date, Select, Attachment, Formula…) and invite collaborators by email with viewer, editor or owner roles.
Switch between Grid, Kanban and Gallery views from the view selector above the table. To connect an external app, open the API panel: Teable shows the REST endpoint and generates an API token. Use the token directly in n8n, Zapier or your own application.
In your ServOrbit client area, attach a domain or subdomain to your Teable instance. ServOrbit configures nginx and provisions a Let's Encrypt certificate automatically. The PUBLIC_ORIGIN variable updates on the next container restart so invitation links and file attachment URLs reflect the new domain.
